Freddy’s Success Story
The idea that led to Dreamland for Cats started over 15 years’ ago in Playa Blanca on the beautiful volcanic island of Lanzarote off the west coast of Africa.
With nothing more than a back-pack of cat biscuits and bottles of water, Freddy began his mission to care for the street cats in the area.
With no car, no volunteers and no financial support, he would walk up to 30 miles a day, to make sure the cats were fed and watered.
His passion and vision were soon noticed, and he started to attract others who wanted to help.
Eventually, Dreamland for Cats was created – a sanctuary where cats can be loved and cared for by Freddy and his team of dedicated volunteers, all helped by generous donations from a worldwide army of supporters.
Dreamland for Cats has a vibrant Facebook page, twitter and Instagram accounts and a brand new website.
Dreamland for Cats works in collaboration with local authorities and hotels.
Tourists often call Dreamland for Cats to ask if they can pick up sick or injured cats or rescue kittens who have been abandoned. Freddy and his team always respond and provide the loving care and attention they need until they are adopted by a Forever Home or fostered. Cats can also be fostered by volunteers while waiting for adoption.
If you contact Freddy, you can arrange to visit Dreamland for Cats where you’ll learn all about the cats and meet other volunteers.
Freddy will help you understand more about caring for street cats – you’ll meet some delightful cats, each with their own distinct personality and can see how they live. A chance to be part of their story and a holiday visit to remember!
